Why we exist
After decades of leading large hospitality companies, we decided that now is the time for fundamental change. The hospitality industry lacks opportunities for conscious consumers to stay, work and recreate in ways that are supportive of their core values. With this in mind, we are developing a new hospitality company from the ground up – one that is free to establish modern brand standards and environmentally friendly practices.
Soul Community Planet strives to be a holistic hospitality company comprised of thoughtfully designed locations where we work side-by-side with our guests to stay, eat, meet, socialize, have fun, work and self-improve in ways that work in concert with our communities and with this magnificent planet we all call home.

That said, we are committed to a process of continual self-improvement, where our guests themselves help us to refine the way we provide holistic hospitality while doing a better job for our planet.

SCP's success will be defined not by how much we take, but by how much we give:
- we give energy back to the grid through the use of extensive solar arrays, low-energy fixtures and highly efficient operations;
- we give water back to the ecosystem by using low flow fixtures and water efficient native landscaping, and non-polluting cleaning products;
- we give land back to the planet by seeking to minimize the amount of waste we send to landfills through full-property recycling programs and our "minimal plastic" policy, which includes no plastic water bottles, straws, bags, plasticware;
- we give back to our guests by providing them with the facilities to build healthy minds and bodies through wellness-centered experiences, including guest rooms designed for rest and productivity, areas specifically designed for zen tranquility, and world-class health and fitness venues;
- we give back to our communities and the planet by directly contributing 5% of our profits to charitable causes that work to advance our core values.

Ken Cruse, known for his ability to generate superior shareholder returns for investors, is Co-Founder and CEO of both Alpha Wave Investors, a private equity company engaged in hotel and multi-family investments, and Soul Community Planet, LLC (SCP), a new venture focused on holistic hospitality. Through SCP, Mr. Cruse will launch new brands and experiences for people desiring to make positive choices for both themselves and the planet.
Prior to founding AWI and SCP, Mr. Cruse was CEO of Sunstone Hotel Investors, a $5B NYSE company. Under Mr. Cruse's leadership, Sunstone Hotel Investors was consistently ranked among the Best Workplaces and the Fastest Growing Public Companies in Orange County, while generating superior shareholder returns averaging 38% per annum.
Mr. Cruse is a member of the Young Presidents Organization and also serves on the board of directors for Miracles for kids, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Mr. Cruse holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University and an Masters of Business Administration with honors from Georgetown University. Mr. Cruse lives in Southern California with his wife and four daughters.
Soul Community Planet (SCP) Founding Partner and COO Bill Tremper has spent nearly three decades in the hospitality industry, including executive leadership roles with The Irvine Company, Joie de Vivre, sbe Entertainment, the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, W Hotels Worldwide, Marriott, Hilton, Doubletree and Starwood.
Mr. Tremper brings his extensive experience to the launch of SCP's first concept: SCP Hotel, applying the holistic values of the company to a range of experiences.
Mr. Tremper attended George Mason University and Cornell University with an emphasis on Hospitality Management.
Mr. Tremper lives in Southern California with his wife and two children and enjoys traveling, sports and new adventures.
Pamela Cruse is co-founder and chief marketing officer of Soul Community Planet. In her role, she helps lead the formation of SCP's holistic hospitality brands, beliefs and behaviors.
Understanding that today's travelers more and more want to refresh their bodies and souls, Ms. Cruse will focus on applying the holistic values of the company to a range of branded experiences and to the launch of hotels, restaurants, bars, marketplaces, recreational activities and consumer goods slated to debut.
Ms. Cruse is a seasoned marketing executive, including tenure at Marriott International, the leading global lodging company, and Gannett's flagship USA Today publication.
Ms. Cruse is an active member of her community, serving on the PTF board of St. Margaret's Episcopal School, past president of both the San Clemente Junior Woman's Club and St. Margaret's Episcopal School PTF, and volunteer positions at National Charity League.
Ms. Cruse holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo, and a Masters of Business Administration from Georgetown University and resides in Southern California with her husband and four daughters.
SCP Founding Partner and General Manager of the flagship SCP Hotel Colorado Springs,Gus Krimm has spent over a decade in the hospitality industry, including leadership roles with Marriott International and InterContinental Hotel Group.
Along with an intense passion for sustainability, healthy lifestyles, and local experiences, Mr. Krimm brings his extensive background in hospitality, hotel renovations, and brand development & repositioning to the launch of SCP's first hotel.
Mr. Krimm holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University, where he was a 3-year starter atstrong safety on the varsity football team. Mr. Krimm lives in Colorado with his wife and two children, where they enjoy spending time being active outdoors.
David Sloan is a Founding Partner of both Alpha Wave Investors, LLC (AWI), a private equity company engaged in hotel and multifamily investments, and Soul Community Planet, LLC (SCP), its latest holistic hospitality venture.
Prior to co-founding AWI and SCP, Mr. Sloan served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc., where he handled all legal functions, including securities matters and real estate transactions.
Mr. Sloan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University and a J.D. degree (cum laude) from Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
Mr. Sloan lives in Southern California with his wife and three children and enjoys sports, running the hills of San Clemente with his dog, and doing home improvement projects.
Ryan McCarthy is a 20-year hotel industry veteran with extensive experience in all aspects of lodging and hospitality including operations, asset management, strategic planning, and acquisitions. A graduate of the Cornell School of Hotel Administration, Mr. McCarthy is currently General Manager of Salishan Resort, a hotel within the Soul Community Planet portfolio.
During his career, Mr. McCarthy has been involved in over $1.5 billion of hotel real estate transactions and asset management of over $750 million of hotel properties during his career.
Prior to joining SCP, Mr. McCarthy was most recently the Director of Acquisitions at Sunstone Hotel Investors ("Sunstone"). During his time at Sunstone, Mr. McCarthy played a key role in over $750 million of transactions including the acquisitions of the Hyatt Regency San Francisco and the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.
Mr. McCarthy is a co-founder and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Peace of Adventure, a non-profit that empowers veterans to serve people with disabilities. He was previously a board member for The Ability Experience, a non-profit that raises funding and awareness on behalf of people with disabilities. Mr. McCarthy biked 4,000 miles from San Francisco to Washington DC and also completed an Ironman triathlon to raise money and awareness for The Ability Experience.
